The Winemakers' Federation of Australia (WFA) developed
the WineSkills program to provide small and medium
winemakers with specialist expertise to manage their way through
the profitability issues many are facing as a result of competitive
pressures in the Australian market.
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture,
Fisheries & Forestry, WineSkills I - Tackling Business
Challenges consisted of 27 workshops around Australia in 2003/04
focusing on practical advice on market, business and financial
planning.
In 2005, additional Government funding was obtained for WineSkills
II - Negotiating the Market Maze, with 15 workshops held around
regional Australia focusing on the process for identifying markets
and appropriate routes to market, including wine tourism, domestic
and export distribution.
The Winemakers’ Federation is pleased to announce a new
round of two day WineSkills workshops in 2007/08,
entitled ‘Business Sustainability - Volume or Value?’.
These workshops follow the release of Wine Australia:
Directions to 2025 - an industry strategy for sustainable success,
and will take participants through a range of tools and resources
available to assist their individual business performance.
Workshops will be held around Australia between September 2007
and May 2008 and are presented in partnership with the Department
of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry and Australian Wine and
Brandy Corporation.
At the workshops you will learn how to:
- target sales effectively in key markets
- align your brand with consumer needs
- respond to new competitive realities and global market
trends
- achieve maximum margin from wine sales and increase profitability
- allocate available resources - time and cash - to maximise
results
- apply practical tools and calculators to critically
analyse market opportunities
- understand the industry’s strategic direction
and identify your place within it
- build long term business sustainability
- develop a simple and effective action plan to ensure
you stay on track
