In
June 1996, the Winemakers Federation of Australia released Strategy
2025, a statement of the objectives and goals for the Australian
wine industry over the next 30 years, with the vision that:
'.. by the Year 2025 the Australian wine industry
will achieve $4.5 billion in annual sales by being the world's
most influential and profitable supplier of branded wines, pioneering
wine as a universal first choice lifestyle beverage.'
Strategy 2025 was undertaken to address
challenges and opportunities facing the Australian wine industry,
and to determine a whole of industry vision for the future. Strategy
2025 specifically focuses on Australia 's resource requirements,
market opportunities, competitiveness and government facilitation
which are required to fulfil the industry vision.
Strategy 2025 highlights the need for
specific strategies to be developed for key competitive issues
in the wine industry such as marketing, environment and research
and development.
