Research & Development
WFA believes strongly that effective research and development will be as important to the wine industry’s future as it was to its recent past, particularly in the areas of viticulture, oenology and market development.
Our priorities are to
- ensure that returns from R&D activities are maximised and driven by industry demands
- encourage a high level of industry participation in setting the R&D agenda
- expand the funding base for R&D by attracting new investors and a broader range of participants.
We work to:
- provide clear advice to the Government on R&D issues on behalf of the wine industry
- ensure the industry’s research priorities are clearly stated and meet national and regional needs
- foster a cooperative approach between industry, researchers, funding bodies and government.
Strategic Directions Group
Following the release of the Directions to 2025 industry strategy, WFA, Wine Grape Growers Australia and the Grape & Wine Research & Development Corporation established a high-level industry committee, the Strategic Directions Group, to manage priority-setting process and encourage broad industry participation.
SDG reports to the Boards of WFA and WGGA via the jointly managed Innovation Policy Committee.
