College of Patrons & Life Members

College of Patrons

The College of Patrons was established by the Winemakers' Federation in 1992, with the mission statement "to honour an individual's outstanding contribution to the Australian wine and brandy industry and to retain and make available for the benefit of the industry the accumulated experience and counsel of eminent industry members after their retirement from the industry" .

The existing members of the College of Patrons annually nominate and consider possible candidates for investiture into the college. Candidates must have made an outstanding contribution to the Australian wine industry over a significant period, and he/she must be close to or have reached retiring age or be about to leave the industry for employment reasons.

Candidates must also at some time have been a member of the governing committee/council of an Electoral College of the Winemakers' Federation or any of its duly constituted sub-committees or affiliate organisations.

Life Members of the Australian Wine Industry

Life Membership of the Australian Wine Industry is awarded by the Winemakers' Federation of Australia as judged by wine industry peers.

Life Membership of the Australian Wine Industry is awarded in recognition of the outstanding contribution of these individuals towards the modern Australian wine industry.
