Why join WFA?

Without members we would not exist. WFA is an independent, not-for-profit organisation funded voluntarily by wine businesses.

We receive none of the compulsory levies wine businesses pay to support Wine Australia, and being a levy payer does not automatically make you a WFA member.

Neither does membership of state or regional associations, though we work closely with both to avoid duplication and ensure a coordinated approach to issues and policy.

Wine needs one voice

WFA is the only body that can fight for the industry’s needs on national and international issues and develop resources that have relevance across all 64 Australian GI.

Over two decades WFA has:
  • Helped protect the industry from billions of dollars in taxation, unfair trade imposts, restrictions in market access, excessive labelling requirements, external regulation of advertising, and vine disease threats.
  • Lobbied for better funding of wine sector R&D and responded to political, technological, environmental, regulatory and market-driven changes that affect wine, wine making and wine packaging.
  • Driven and supported an industry commitment to meet modern values and expectations around environmental custodianship and social responsibility.
  • Highlighted the wine sector’s achievements to politicians, the media and the public.
