Greenhouse Challenge Plus
WFA recognises the reality of climate change and encourages all practical emissions reduction and adaptation strategies. In January 2008, we signed an agreement with the Federal Government’s Australian Greenhouse Office to become Facilitative Members of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program.
Under the Agreement, we are committed to:
- provide information to members through industry newsletters, at industry conferences, workshops and meetings, or other means as available, and as part of WFA overall interaction with members
- provide up-to-date advice to WFA members about the greenhouse effect, and national and international responses
- promote the adoption of continuous improvement and best practice in areas such as efficient energy use, waste management and other greenhouse mitigation measures
- where practicable, work with members to look at industry specific greenhouse issues, and to develop and implement responses
- work with Greenhouse Challenge Plus to identify relevant best practice and viable actions for the industry
- if required, assist Greenhouse Challenge Plus to develop case studies of best practice
- provide feedback to Greenhouse Challenge Plus on the impact of Australian Government greenhouse policies in its industry sector, and on impediments to members attempting to reduce greenhouse gases.
