Freshcare Environmental
Freshcare links on-farm practices in food safety, quality and environment to the assurance programs of other members of the produce supply chain.
In 2006 Freshcare developed the
Freshcare Environmental Code and associated workbook
Freshcare Environmental Workbook. The workbook is the primary reference resource for Freshcare Members to interpret the code requirements and develop their own on-farm environmental assurance program.
Freshcare links to EntWine Australia
Freshcare Environmental was chosen by the WFA as the EntWine Australia default certification scheme as it provided a solid basis for the development of the codes for viticulture and wineries.
Developing the Freshcare Environmental Codes (Viticulture & Winery)
The WFA have developed two codes, one for viticulture and one for wineries based on the original Freshcare Environmental code. The WFA have also developed associated workbooks that can be used to assist operators to adhere to the elements of the codes.
The Viticulture code and associated workbook was developed by altering some of the original content of the Freshcare Environmental code and adding various viticulture resources. As the Freshcare Environmental code is horticulture based it contained many similar elements. The Winery code and associated workbook was developed in a similar manner however Freshcare Environmental was merely utilised as a template in this instance.
As part of the development of the Freshcare Environmental Codes (Viticulture & Winery), essential documents including templates and audit guidelines were also developed and are provided to participants during Freshcare training.
