Workforce Development

Why is WFA involved in workforce development?
The workforce requirements of the wine industry will continue to change in response to improving technologies and business practices. Concurrently the Australian workforce is undergoing significant transformation.

It is important to influence national workforce planning and capacity building to ensure that future wine industry requirements are met.

Our vision for the industry
To support the continued competitive advantage of Australian wine by representing the industry at a national level in relation to future workforce requirements.

How will we achieve this?
WFA has established the Workforce Development Committee, responsible for providing strategic leadership and representation of industry in relation to workforce development at the national level. The committee will develop policies to influence key stakeholders, including government, in relation to industry workforce development needs. It will communicate the industry's vision for building future capability and activities designed to achieve the committee's objectives.

The objectives of the Workforce Development Committee are:

  1. The industry understands its future workforce requirements.
  2. The industry attracts people with appropriate skills to meet future demands.
  3. The industry ensures that people are developed to meet future capability requirements.
  4. The committee communicates and influences to ensure objectives 1-3 are achieved.
