National Viticulture Biosecurity Committee
Its role includes:
- establishing policy and proposing strategies on biosecurity for wine
- advising Plant Health Australia on categorisation of exotic pests and diseases for inclusion in the Emergency Plant Pests Response Deed
-
ensuring the industry’s obligations are met around training and awareness, specialist resources and capacity, and the maintenance and implementation of the
Industry Biosecurity Plan (PDF) for viticulture.
Working to the NVBC is a National Vinehealth Technical Committee (NVTC), which replaces the former National Vine Health Steering Committee and is part funded by the GWRDC.
The NVTC is chaired by Australia’s Chief Plant Protection Officer and includes representatives from industry, the Federal and all State governments, the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Board of South Australia, and the Victorian Viticulture Biosecurity Commission.
