Wine Restructuring Action Agenda
A comprehensive plan to tackle the Australian wine sector's current oversupply was launched on 10 November 2009 with the release of a
statement to all winemakers and grape growers and a package of initiatives as part of a Wine Restructuring Action Agenda (WRAA).
Further information also was provided in the Summer 2009/10 edition of the WFA magazine
Winescope (PDF).
Regional workshops
As the next phase of WRAA, 15 free regional workshops will be held around Australia between 24February and 20 May. Each will cater for winemakers and grape growers from a specific group of neighbouring regions. All 64 GI are included in one of the workshops.
The
schedule includes the date, host city/town and GI regions for each workshop. Specific venue details are added as they are confirmed. Dates and locations have been selected in consultation with regional associations to minimise disruption and travelling.
Each workshop will run from 10.30am to 4pm (except Stanthorpe - 9.30am to 3pm) and highlight: the national analysis that underpins the WRAA initiative; the implications for the regions involved in the workshop; options for individual winemakers and grape growers to work through current demand/supply issues; and a range of support tools that are available to you.
They also will serve as a forum for discussion and we invite you to participate. If you are interested it is important that you:
- attend the workshop which includes your GI region, to ensure the content and discussion are relevant
- inform us of your intention to attend, to assist with planning and logistics.
To reserve a place, please send an email to
craig@wfa.org.au with the name of the workshop location (eg Barmera) or your GI in the subject box and the name(s) of attendees in the text. We will use your email to supply further information about your specific workshop.
